Steve's Background
In 1996, Steve Bartlett established Bartlett Associates, a Human Resource consulting and recruiting business. Recently, as more firms have reduced staff and outsourced HR services, Steve has focused on building his consulting practice working primarily with businesses employing fewer than 150 employees. He has worked on a variety of projects including recruiting, policy development, training, performance management, developing compensation and benefit systems, merger and acquisition and business integration, strategic planning and executive coaching.
Steve's career in Human Resource management includes more than 25 years experience in hi-tech, retail and consumer products Fortune 1000 companies. Most recently, Steve was Vice President, Human Resources for American Tourister, Inc., a division of Samsonite Corporation, a $700 million luggage products company. Samsonite owns and operates over 200 retail outlets, and serves a broad range of wholesale customers in every major channel of distribution.
Prior to Samsonite/American Tourister, Steve managed several Human Resource functions for Universal Instruments Corporation, a leading manufacturer of electronic assembly equipment. Universal Instruments is a part of Dover Technologies, a Dover Corporation.
Steve began his career with the Eveready Battery Company, a division of Union Carbide Corporation. In a series of progressive assignments, Steve gained broad HR staff and management experience in manufacturing plants, sales offices, internationally and at the Corporate Headquarters of Union Carbide in Danbury, Connecticut.
Steve received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire, did Master's level work in Industrial Relations at Rutgers University and has attended numerous Executive and Management Development Programs. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Special Olympics, as a Literacy volunteer and a member of the Rhode Island Human Resource Management Association.
